Guide to Punting in the USA
The United States of America (USA), commonly referred to as the United States (U.S.) or America, is a federal republic composed of 50 states, a federal district, five major self-governing territories, and various possessions.
Prostitution in the USA is illegal in most of the country, as a result of state laws rather than federal laws. It is legal in some rural counties of Nevada. In spite of its illegality, prostitution exists throughout the United States from both independent prostitutes and those employed through escort agencies. Both freelancers and agencies may advertise under the terms "bodywork" or "bodyrub"in the back of alternative newspapers, although some of these bodywork professionals 'are' actual massage professionals.
Police in some areas run active 'sting' operations against escorts and punters. This means escorts will be trying to determine that a punter is not the police, at the same time the punter is trying to determine that the escort is real (not a scam artist and not police). Overall the risk on both sides drives up prices, since escorts have a real risk of being fined, jailed and outed.
Currently, Nevada is the only U.S. jurisdiction to allow legal prostitution in the form of regulated brothels. Only 8 counties currently contain active brothels. All forms of prostitution are illegal in Clark County which contains Las Vegas.
