Thailand, historically known as Siam, is a country in Southeast Asia, located at the centre of the Indochinese Peninsula, with a population of almost 70 million. [[Bangkok]] is the nation's capital and largest city.

Note you need at least 6 months left on your passport to enter.
===Introduction===
Some think that Thailand is the punting capital of Asia. However, even the best places require the best planning and approach as everyone out there is after your money. The four most common places to punt are Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket (an Island - town there is Patong) and Chiang Mai.
Depending on your nationality, you can be treated differently. Farangs and Japanese shouldn't have a problem but the Indians may be asked to pay a little more. This isn't always the case but it can happen.
The going rate at the moment is 1500 baht for ST and 3000 baht for LT. Girls will usually start much higher than this but consider being firm on these prices. Varies greatly by location and type of go go.
Exchange rate is a pound is 42 44 baht, so easy to think of 4000 4500 baht as £100===Girl bar===These are bars where the staff is all girls. They may bring you drinks (they are staff), but they will also sit with you if you buy them a drink. In many of the popular punting towns, they are in fact escorts and will stay with you LT or ST, just like the Gogos.===Mama-san===This is the lady who manages all the girls. She is not the bar manager, but is in a position of respect. The word comes from the Japanese '-san' connected to the western word 'mama'. '-san' is an expresion of respect, like Mr. This expression probably came from US military who were first in Japan and then in Thailand and the Philippines.

* In Thai slang, '''555''' means "haha" or "lol" because the Thai word for the number five, "ห้า" (\(h\text{ă}\)), is pronounced like the "ha" sound of laughter.
* The '''bin''' is the cup on your table with the growing payment that you owe. Look at it every now and then. Barfines will go on the bin, ST/LT wont (pay the girl). So to 'checkbin' is to pay and go.
* '''333''' is rude slang for certain men that have 3 inches, 3 minutes, 3000 baht. Bar Girls favorite.
* '''LoS''' means Land of Smiles, or Thailand!
